The Torchbearers of Democracy

Black Women Building the Future We Deserve

Black women. Mothers. Grandmothers. Aunts. Sisters. Daughters. Friends. Leaders. Trailblazers. Torchbearers. World-changers.

From the abolitionist movement to the fight for women’s suffrage to the civil rights movement, Black women have played a vital role in expanding our democracy.

Today, Black women continue to be at the forefront of the fight. They are working to build a more just and inclusive democracy that reflects the diversity of our nation, and ensures that everyone can participate.

Thank you for joining us in celebrating the women who are setting the foundation for a world where liberty and justice are available for ALL.
