Nick Wertsch joined Dēmos as Associate Director of Workplace Justice in May 2024. Nick comes to Dēmos with years of experience in policy advocacy, organizing, and movement lawyering. His work has focused on building power with Black and brown communities and immigrant workers who have legally or historically been excluded from labor protections.

Previously, Nick served as Associate General Counsel to the Coalition of Immokalee Workers where he supported the expansion of the Fair Food Program and farmworker-led campaigns for corporate accountability in food supply chains. Before that, he litigated wage theft cases and launched worker power campaigns in Houston, TX for Workers Defense Project, winning higher standards and safety protections for construction workers on publicly funded development projects.

Nick holds a B.A. in Government from Georgetown University, and he earned his J.D. from Georgetown Law's evening program while working during the day as Organizing Director for the Kalmanovitz Initiative for Labor and the Working Poor.
