Aoife Toomey is a skilled fundraiser and non-profit leader with almost 20 years of experience working with a variety of philanthropic partners to further the missions and impact of various non-profit organizations.  

Aoife joins Demos after six years at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP), where she most recently served as the Vice President for Development, leading the organization’s fundraising strategy, working to build new relationships and strengthen key partnerships with funders and donors looking to promote systemic change, reduce poverty, and advance economic equity through sound, data-driven policies. Aoife joined CBPP as State Network Fundraising Manager within the State Fiscal Policy team. In that role, she focused on the funding and financial stability of the State Priorities Partnership, a network of more than 40 independent, nonprofit research and policy organizations working to reduce inequality and fight poverty by ensuring that states have the resources they need through an accountable budget process. 

Aoife began her fundraising career in electoral politics before working in both individual and institutional donor relations as a frontline fundraiser at Carlow University, the Pew Charitable Trusts, the Bipartisan Policy Center, and the Smithsonian Institution. She has served on the board of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Western Pennsylvania chapter and as a mentor for AFP DC’s mentoring program. 

A native of Dublin, Ireland and a proud immigrant to the United States, Aoife received an M.B.A. from Carlow University and a B.A. in political science and economics from Trinity College, Dublin.
