In his book he explores the growing phenomenon of self-imposed residential segregation, arguing that as the country becomes more diverse, the creation of all-white communities is on the rise. He talked about the months he spent living in three representative "whitopias," which he characterizes as being among the fastest-growing communities, populated by white migrants, and charming escapes from racial and cultural diversity.
